The First Seven Years

Growth and learning are a part of life, no one can make excuses. This fact affects everyone, even for children who learned to share or for the elderly who learned to relinquish. In the "first seven years", Feld knew that her daughter had to part with her own problem in order to accept his growth and study. Feld is a typical father, he only hopes for being the best for his daughter. Feld desires the best education, the best man, the perfect life. As far as he believes he can make her life perfect as long as she tells her the essentials of her life.

"The first seven years" and "I am an ethnic Chinese" talk about how the family's role functions to improve the lives of future generations. Feld has been working as a shoemaker for a long time in "the first seven years", so few people can do this when her daughter goes to college. There are many similarities found between two completely different literary works.
