The relationship between allies during the previous wartime began to be nervous since 1942 but they were getting more and more nervous because they struggled to agree on the shape of Europe after the war. By 1945, the United States and the Soviet Union ideologically began to oppose "superpowers" and everyone wanted to influence the postwar world. Germany became the center of Cold War politics, the difference between the East and the West became apparent as well as the German split. In 1949, Germany officially split into two independent countries: the German Federal Republic (FDR or West Germany) allied with Western democracy and the German Democratic Republic allied with the Soviet Union (East Germany or East Germany ). In 1952, the East German government closed the border with West Germany, but the border between East Berlin and West Berlin was still open. Even now the East Germans still have low compression power through the streets and can escape to the wealthier west.

In 1961 the rumor said that measures will be taken to strengthen the borders and prevent East Germans from leaving the West. On June 15, the East German leader Walter Ulbricht declared, "Nobody plans to build a wall", but on the evening of 12 to 13 August a wire mesh was made around West Berlin. Established intersections between the West and the Soviet division were closed and destroyed communities and families overnight. From this barbed wire fence, the wall eventually develops into a reinforced concrete structure around West Berlin and isolates it from the surrounding East Germany area. In this picture, construction workers built a part of the Berlin Wall in 1961, so they are supervised by security guards in East Germany.

It was under constant supervision of the East German border guard who was given the authority to shoot down those who tried to escape to West Berlin. By 1989, there were 302 monitoring towers on the wall. In the history of 28 years, over 100 people died while trying to cross the Berlin Wall. However, the walls were only a small part of the larger "German inner border" between Germany's East Germany and West Germany, hundreds of people were killed as they tried to cross the borders of other fortresses.

In 1989, due to the political change in Eastern Europe and the civil war in Germany, the West German government was pressured to ease the rules of the West German travel. At a press conference on November 9, the East German spokesperson GünterSchabowski announced that East Germans freely travel to the West Germany and can start immediately. Western media reported that the borders were open and the crowd gathered immediately at the checkpoints on both sides of the wall. Passport checks were eventually abandoned and people crossed the border without limit. East and West Berliners gather to celebrate.
