Standard A: Survey Plan (105) This document is planning to investigate that the failure of the Southern Reconstruction era brought about the civil rights movement of African-Americans in the mid-20th century. Using various key descriptions, such as Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, newspapers, letters, etc are important to evaluate the contribution of failing to rebuild social equality in the 1920s. Furthermore, studying the differences between the reconstruction era and the subsequent north and south perspectives between the 1950s and the 1960s will make it possible to determine the extent to which the Caucasian viewpoint of America will accelerate.
Reconstruction may be the most controversial period in American history. Beginning with William Dunning in the early twentieth century, generations of northern and southern historians explained that reconstruction was a failure. According to this traditional interpretation, illiterate African Americans and corrupted northern carpet makers abuse Caucasian rights and steal huge amounts of money from the state government. Extreme Republicans brought these conditions when trying to punish the South, and they gave too much prematureity to the former slaves prematurely. Dunning's Historical Thought School provided the theoretical basis of apartheid in the early 20th century. It got a popular expression in the 1915 movie "D. W." Griffith's "Birth of the Country" depicts KKK as a hero to save southern Caucasians who are pressured by revenge of northern extremists and African Americans.
Over the centuries, historians and people in popular culture celebrated the establishment of self-stated white supremacy regime in southern states, expressing complete failure of this era, erasing or distorting the rebuilding did. The movie "The birth of the state" is probably the most notorious but textbooks also distort the story, making democratic experiments of this age crazy, even showing tragically. Now, this period has been overlooked or distorted in school curriculum. The National Park Service is responsible for management of historical sites and interpretation of national history to solve this problem. It is a custodian of dozens of parks commemorating the civil war era, but the unit dedicated to its sole reconstruction is the second year that President Obama established a national monument for reconstruction of age in South Carolina State Beaufort It was made before. The bill will be a national park, which will attract tourists and help promote its persistence and accessibility.
There are several factors that caused reconfiguration to fail. Since the government forcibly rebuilt the southern provinces, southern ethnic attitudes did not actually change during this period. When the government ceased implementing rebuilding, many southern countries acted immediately to stop the results achieved by the African-American community, in particular through the law of Jim Crow. Liberal Democratic Party's fund shortage is shortened, most free slaves are not educated and still in the south. Without land reform, slaves are forced into the tenant system without their own farms, which may make them more independent, equally and successful.
