There is no other innocent African-American in the history that has experienced such a cruel experience. This notorious torture is known as the "middle pillar" which is the path in the midst of triangular trade, or the powerful voyage of African Americans from Africa to the New World. Africans were taken from their homes, boarded a terrible boat and broke up as a slave to the New World. Between 1500 and 1900, 10 million to 16 million Africans were brought to the Atlantic Ocean and 10-15% died during the voyage.
This autobiography can be read at multiple levels. It provides direct information on cruel graphics of slavery, including the process of enslavement and fear of the middle channel. It provides brilliant insight into social history of the 18th century and the first person connecting triangular trade activities in Africa, the Americas and Europe. This book is also a story of religious convertion that helps to deal with oppression of slavery and to understand travel stories that can catch a glimpse of the Atlantic world of the 18th century.

In 1856, US Secretary of State Peter Parker declared that the traffic was "full of illegal, immoral, rebellious, inhuman atrocities," and that atrocity acted "fear of passing through the middle" There was sometimes exceeding. The conditions of labor services in the Americas are not good. Trafficked Chinese workers in the Tincha Islands on the coast of Peru have mined feces of birds, a fertilizer used in American farms and farms. They work in toxic environments for up to 20 hours a day, while the boss uses whipping and dog attacks as a rebellion punishment. Suicide at refugee camps is common.
