As university costs increase, university entrance is common among university students. Despite its prevalence, researchers have yet to reach consensus on whether college work will harm student retention (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005). In order to bridge the gap of literature, this research examined the relationship between employment of the first grader of university and college admission rate. In this study, we analyzed the institutional data of the leading flagship university in the southeastern United States using a logistic regression model. The results show that students who work more than 15 hours a week outside school are often less satisfied with their educational institutions and are less likely to plan re-enrollment. These results show that excessive extracurricular employment has a direct and adverse effect on university consolidation. However, there is little evidence that work inside and outside the school may affect student's academic or social integration.
