Evolutionary significance of personality The word "individual" occupies an important position in today's society. When asked about the meaning of the word "individual", people randomly chosen will answer "people are people" with confidence. This person is correct compared with the definition of the present age. According to the latest meaning of "individual" defined in the Oxford English dictionary, "a single person or an object or a member of a particular category" belongs to, belongs to or is unique (OED individual 5a) .
In her new book, "American Individualism", Stephanie Worth is exploring how the meaning of individualism evolved and changed since the latter half of the 18th century. One of the strengths of Wals' book is that the meaning of the political concept is influenced by historical fluctuations. Some of the core terms used in political terms in the 21st century, such as liberalism, conservatism, Marxists, democrats, are quite different from those in the past. In her explanation of the change in the individualism meaning of American political thought, Wales distinguishes between the political individualism she explains, economic individualism, and social individualism. She praised the virtue of political individualism that spread during and after the American Revolutionary War. Her conclusion is that social individualism "impairs the stability of the American society, which has a negative impact on democracy".
As Wals said, the meaning of individualism has changed over the past two centuries. However contrary to Wals' claims, I feel that modern society is much weaker than the past. Of course, in the United States, classical ideals of coarse individualism such as self-help, self-reliance, self-control, etc. are at the edge of social and cultural life. Instead, individualism has focused on inner self, especially by respecting others and by approving to maintain the importance of self esteem. Most notably, in the discourse surrounding individualism, it is from a self-critical ideal for those who need "critical" experts, therapists and public institutions.
Individualism has evolved gradually to the belief that personal originality before God begins, moral authority comes from inner things, comes from the self of God. Historically, individualism has always resulted in higher demands for people, which ultimately led the contemporary Westerners to believe that everyone has their own destiny to achieve. Individualist critics' answers - and the fact that many of us believe that individualism may feel a good personal but poor selfish dilemma - is that individualism is more than ourselves We are advocating that we will develop ourselves in the service of ourselves. This is always what individualism means, which is what I still mean. Individualism is not a reservation of a tea party or Thatcher. In addition to serving others, it is meaningless to grow myself. We do not have to rely on altruism, but we rely on our own interests. Selfishism and self-obsession are not fun. Genuine individuals use their talent to gain their support in the business they believe.
