The Empire State Building seems to be a symbolic skyscraper. It is a classic Art Deco building that endured the test of time and has dominated the city skyline since its inception. Recently, the Empire State Building has got the latest news. There is a new antenna. Most noteworthy are the new LED lights that illuminate New York's skyline every night. So I thought that most people do not understand Empire State Building. I can talk about the beautiful 5-storey lobby that I had at the current Astoria Hotel in the Empire State Building, but how did the B-25 collide with the building in 1945?
The Empire State Building was completed in 1931 during the Great Depression in New York. At that time, the Empire State Building used the mantle as the tallest building in the world and beat the other skyscraper built in New York, the Chrysler Building. This project included 3,400 workers, most of them European immigrants and hundreds of Mohawk iron workers. For the first time, the light at the top of the Empire State Building signaled New Yorkers that President Franklin Roosevelt won the 1932 presidential election.
As the world's tallest building and the first building with more than 100 stories, the Empire State Building quickly became a symbol of the city and the country. In 2013, Time magazine pointed out that the Empire State Building "seems to fully embody a city that has become synonymous with it". Despite the fact that there are more taller and more modern buildings, historian John Tauranac called the tower "New York architecture in the 20th century." Early in the history of the building, a short-term car travel service and a travel agency such as the New York Central Railroad used the building as a symbol of the city. After the construction of the first World Trade Center, the architect Paul Goldberger pointed out that the Empire State Building "famous for being tall but well-known for its kindness".
