Influence of structured sports program on social interaction and communication among autistic children
Research Autism can not provide publications unless it is published as a publisher. However, if you are a resident of the UK, you can get it from your local public library, university library or directly from the publisher.
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of structured physical activity programs on children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) on social interaction and communication. 50 children with ASD from special school were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. Twenty-five children with ASD were enrolled in the experimental group and an additional 25 children participated in normal physical activity as a control group. A total of 41 participants completed the exam. A twelve - week structured sports program was launched in 24 exercise sessions for social exchanges and communication with ASD children. Data were collected using quantitative and qualitative instruments. In contrast, the control group was not able to find a statistically significant difference ().
The effect of structured exercise program on social interaction and communication of autistic children
In this study, we examined the impact of a systematic physical activity program of 12 weeks on social interaction and communication among ASD children. As a result of the 12-week exercise program, it was shown that the social exchanges and communication skills of the experiment group improved as a whole. (1) With regard to social interaction, this research found significant improvement of social interaction, cooperation, and self management subdomains. However, in terms of cooperation, responsibility, sympathy, and participation, the physical activity plan has little impact. In a 12 - week intervention it may not be enough to bring many important changes to every aspect of social interaction. Parent interviews to the questionnaires and volunteer responses indicate that the overall level of social interaction has changed significantly at the end of the 12 week sports program.
