Introduction The need for computing devices arises from the need to calculate and process data efficiently. There are many different factors that affect the history of computers, but they are not as important as the US census. The US Census Bureau processes large volumes of data and various kinds of data, so it needs efficient data processing. The US Census is a catalyst for rapidly growing computing technology. The effect still exists today. American Census History, USA
Rapid growth of various technologies and their current use in the United States. Over the past several decades, the amount of technology used has increased dramatically. According to the US Census, it is reported that 76% of households are using computers (2011, File), in contrast to 8% in 1984. In this figure, 72% of households report access to the Internet, but only 18% of 1998 was the first year to ask about Internet usage (File, 2012). As of 2013, 90% of American adults are using certain types of mobile phones. For those under the age of 44, this number is close to 97% (Madrigal, 2013). The dramatic increase in the use of technology is particularly noticeable in the younger generation. According to a survey by the Caesars Family Foundation, people between the ages of 8 and 18 spend more time on the media than any other activity - an average of 7.5 hours a day (Rideout, Foehr, & Roberts, 2010).
