The Education of Henry Adams

This is also a sharp critique of the theory and practice of education in the 19th century. In 1907, Adams began to distribute copies of his own print limited edition privately. Commercial publication of this book won the Pulitzer Prize in 1919 as it has to wait for its author to die in 1918. The modern library cites it as the first of the first 100 British nonfiction books of the 20th century.

After the turn of the 20th century, Henry Adams sat down to write an autobiography, Henry Adams' education. Looking back on the remarkable career at Harvard University, he wondered whether the views of children born in the mid-nineteenth century were close to the beginning of the 20th century or the start of Christianity. Adams has good reason to doubt. For 50 years from the Civil War to the First World War, thought-minded men and women formed powerful new ideas about the inner (intimate) nature of God, the author of the Bible, and the theory of evolution.

Henry Adams wrote a short preface of prominent autobiography "Henry Adams' Education". The first question mark is whether it is completely autobiographical or not, and according to the author 's recognition it does not apply in the traditional sense. In particular he is searching for a new educational model suited to the era of science and mechanization, he told us that the theme is education. If he is talking about life it seems as if he used himself as a model of the human body to reveal clothing mistakes. Adams wishes to prove to us that traditional education is not ready for the modern world This is the first goal we confirmed in the preamble. The second related objective is to show that such education is not "educating" his father.
