Economist Christopher J. Ruhm presented a simple model to introduce family and health insurance in his thesis entitled "Economic consequences of work of parents and children: Lessons from Europe". The way of insurance - especially parenting leave - affects labor demand and labor supply. He said vacation policy would mean choosing a worker who is more likely to take a vacation than a person who is less likely to take a vacation to enter the labor market.
