The Donner Party: Survival or Principles?

The Party Party met one of the most elusive difficulties a group of travelers might have. This historical disaster included 81 inexperienced immigrants who wanted to land known as California. 47 travelers encountered a series of unfortunate events (PBS) caused by various factors. The most terribly misleading factor is the need to discover and conquer everything, regardless of the spirit of man and the shortest and fastest range possible (A & E).

The donor party, or the donor - lead party, is a group of American pioneers who sailed to California in May 1846. Beginning with the independence of Missouri, they were late for a series of unfortunate accidents and mistakes, and winter. Heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains from 1846 to 1847. Some pioneers use cannibalism to survive. The trip to the west usually takes 4 to 6 months, but the donor party will be delayed through a new route called the Hastings cutoff across the Utah Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake Desert. In October 1846, a group of about 90 immigrants led by George Downer fell into a snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Survivors opened their way in the beginning of 1847.

George and Tamsen donor's children were taken away by an old couple near Satter's Fort. Eliza was 3 years old from 1846 to 1847 and was the youngest among Downer 's children. In 1911 she published an account of the Downer Party based on the account printed and her sister's account. Isavera, the youngest daughter of Brean, was the last survivor of the Downer Party at the age of 1 in the winter from 1846 to 1847. She died in 1935. The children of Graves have a different life. Mary Graves got married soon, but her first husband was murdered. She cooked his murderer's food in prison to ensure that the man sentenced before he was hanged is not starving. Mary's grandson realized she was very serious; Graves said "I can cry but I can not, I will know how to cry again if I can forget this tragedy" said. It will not be resolved at important points
