Prisoners in Berwick and Jedburgh 's prisons have different ways of handling prisoners, but in particular the way prisoners handle them varies. Berwick was built in the 17th century in 1850, during which no actions and government reforms were introduced, Jedburgh was founded in 1852 in the 18th century, and at least three governmental actions were introduced. For some of these crimes (ie homicide), individuals may be sentenced to life imprisonment.
