"Love story" is a story of a different slave from the traditional black novel. Charles Johnson converts the traditional surplus into a literary form that provides the meaning, existence and freedom of black in literature. These traditions are what Johnsson calls "protest fiction", which is related to difficulties, racial discrimination, and black suppression (Johnson IX). Johnson felt that these novels should not focus on the focus, but should pay more attention to blacks who experienced spiritual and spiritual freedom regardless of slavery.
