The Death Penalty is NOT an Effective Deterrent

The problem of the death penalty has received much attention and debate over the years. Before 1976, the United States prohibited the death penalty. However, in 1976 the ban was lifted and many states adopted the death penalty in the Constitution. Currently, the capital punishment is applied in 38 states, and it is not used only in 12 provinces. A state with capital punishment uses various methods to force the accused. 32 countries used fatal injections, 10 used electric shocks, 6 used gas chambers, 2 used suspensions and 2 states used shooting teams (Death Information Center, 1997) .

The death penalty is not an effective deterrent. O'Malley noted, "The average murder rate of the death penalty in 2011 is 4.9 per 100,000 people, it is lower in the state without it, the murder rate is 4.1 people per 100,000 people." This is not a totally effective deterrent than prison life. This is a waste of money. Mr. O'Malley correctly pointed out that it is an obligation to "stop wasting expensive and impossible things". Given the need to increase investment in other areas to promote budget situation and common interests, maintaining a row of unnecessarily and recklessly death is a terrible resource allocation.

In a nutshell, the current empirical data can be said to be uncertain about the deterrent effect of the death penalty. However, under certain conditions it has been proven that the death penalty can be an effective deterrent. It is pointed out that it is meaningless to explicitly approve or dismiss the death penalty as a deterrent. It must be identified, measured and correlated with analysis mode. In this way it is only possible to ensure data that meets scientific knowledge standards.

I do not know if the death penalty will be an effective deterrent against rape. In 2012, the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences announced a comprehensive analysis of deterrence research. Or, rapists will think "Hey, my god, I will be sentenced to death!" Before a child's rape? Even if they do, will criminals rape their children or not kill her after canceling evidence?
