Until I saw a special program on Discovery Channel, I did not know what genetic engineering is. The special issue shows that scientists formed the first "perfect" embryos. The shocking thing is that scientists have asked other people what features this embryo should have. To live according to the qualities that parents want is uneasy and immoral to me. As Francis Bacon said, "If we want to rule nature, we must first obey her" (Fox 193), a process contrary to nature.
Genetic engineering is a controversial topic and has a firm belief on both sides of the discussion. Some people believe that genetic engineering brings benefits to the world through new technologies, thereby creating better health and food sources. Others believe that genetic engineering is immoral and long-term effects remain unknown.
Human genetic engineering is inherently bad. For most people, the terms "genetic engineering" and "genetic modification" are full of bad meanings - suggesting selfish motives, crazy scientists, and uncontrollable techniques. Not only that, it's just a tool. Even those with a positive meaning like "genetic editing" should call it neutral. Human genetic engineering may be in danger. We do not know any possible flaws in CRISPR / Cas 9 technology, we do not know. Generally, pregnancy and breeding are very dangerous and often cause stillbirth, genetic defects, congenital defects, and the like. For example, if "no hazard" is a condition for making a baby, not a hearing impaired, it is not allowed to bring a baby together. It is not permitted for a woman to have a baby at home without a teacher. Infertility medicines are not permitted. Women aged 40 or older or under 16 years old can not be pregnant. But these are not true
Most people tend to focus on the negative aspects of genetic engineering, but we also need to consider some substantial positive factors. Genetic engineering is an argument, each side has several advantages. To make informed decisions about this problem, we need to consider the strengths and weaknesses of genetic engineering. There may be some environmental problems still causing diseases, but if we start changing the human genes, we may resist genetic abnormalities. For things like cancer, family history does not mean anything, we can begin to completely eliminate genetically based diseases.
Genetic engineering is still a generally new phenomenon, and most people question the moral and ethical attributes. Because genetic engineering is still a fairly new process, what many genetic engineering can do for society, and most importantly those with a history of genetic diseases. Genetic engineering may help to terminate the inheritance of genes that cause disease. Genetic engineering may help extend the average life expectancy of US citizens. Professor Shoukhrat Mitalipov wishes to successfully use genetic engineering for the first time and continue using it to eliminate certain heart diseases. At the same time, Joshua Fletcher 's family wants to use genetic engineering to help find Joshua' s treatment for deadly blood diseases. Genetic engineering can also be an answer to prevent the development of diseases such as cystic fibrosis and Down's syndrome.
