Most people in today's Western society believe that their own ancestors themselves constitute their current culture and tradition. Unfortunately, they are incorrect. Most Western societies are based on Greek culture and thought, and are transmitted to the Romans, Europe and the Americas. The people of Western society still share the same characteristics as the ancient world. "It is no doubt that Greece is the single largest source of elements that make up the civilization of modern Europe" (Martin Bernal).
The academy agrees that classical Greece is an epoch-making culture that builds the foundation of modern Western culture, democracy, art, theater, philosophy, science. Therefore, it is called the cradle of Western civilization. Like Greece, Rome may be expressed as the birthplace or origin of Western civilization due to the role of cities in politics, republicanism, law, architecture, war, and Western Christianity.
The basic political principles of modern democracy come from ancient Greeks of democratic origin. Due to the sustained impact of that idea, ancient Greece was known as the birthplace of Western civilization. Indeed, the Greeks invented the idea of the West as a distinctive area; they are where they live in the west of the powerful civilizations of Egypt, Babylon and the Phoenicians. Today, we were taught that democracy is the (correct) civilized political system (only). It is the backbone of collective identity in Western imagination; the NATO Charter insists it is an adhesive bonding North America and Europe. Even the influential Athens in the past doubted the cautiousness and effectiveness of democracy, but the contemporary debate of today's mainstream in the United States and Europe is a way of remixing our own oligarchy, There is no tendency to propose bigger help of monarchic power structure. It is a matter of the national constitution.
