The Courage of Beowulf

Courage is the theme of Beowulf's epic as a whole. By definition, courage is the state or quality of the spirit or mind, allowing people to be compromised, feared, or to change according to their own wishes and resolutions. There are many things that can be used to prove this statement in this description, but I decided to use the section titled "The Last Battle". In this section, Beowulf and Wiglaf announced two wonderful speech. I believe that warriors are drawn by two warriors in these two monologues, and why it is easy to understand.

Beowulf showed that the quality of courage is very important, but a large group of men showed lack of courage. Compared to Beowulf, in Dante 's Inferno Dante, the pilgrims are experiencing the circle of hell and do not really show their willingness to help others. In Cantos II, Virgil told Dante about the pilgrim "Why do you accept this cowardly spirit, why are you brave and not candid?" (Inferno, II; 121-23) The pilgrim Dante showed courage but he should be convinced and not as brave as Beowulf.

This shows Beowulf's strength, courage and fearlessness. Through this, it is clear that he has brave qualities. Beowulf 's power has been exemplified many times in the story. Beowulf is said to have "power of 30 people" in his powerful treatment. In the society Beowulf, Beowulf demonstrated exceptional courage and power, which gave him a special status. This concept appeared when Beowulf fought with mothers of Grundel and Grundel, but it was particularly noticeable when he fought against the dragon. When Beowulf fought against Glendell, others had the courage to fight him. The same can be said for Mother of Glendell. When Beowulf went to fight the dragon, other fighters crept into the forest. Beowulf showed his courage by fighting the dragon. Even if he notices that Beowulf is fighting the dragon and his sword does not hurt, he will continue fighting. After the death of Beowulf, he showed a fatal blow to the dragon, not simply letting go of death, but a combination of courage and power. When Beowulf can really fight the dragon, his power will appear; any ordinary man will immediately fall to the dragon.
