The Contribution of Split-Brain Studies to Our Understanding of Brain Functioning

Understanding brain functions is always a complicated phenomenon in the field of psychology, and it creates many differences in opinions between research, speculation and researchers. Obviously, our brain consists of two hemispheres on the left and right (Gazzaniga, 2002). After rigorous scrutiny, this study proved that the two hemispheres are highly specialized areas with different functions; a concept called functional aspect.

There are several ways to classify the brain anatomically and functionally. A typical anatomical segmentation is based on the brains of the spinal cord and the peripheral nervous system, the cerebellum, and the leaves of the brain. Our understanding of how the brain works is still local and the functions assigned to each region using anatomical segmentation are as follows. We will see that the computer easily won two of them. Computers have been able to keep up with four areas in the last decade and are looking at somewhat close or slightly ahead. Finally, there are four areas where the human brain still has its own brain.

Traditionally, we tend to consider the body - brain sector: our brains regulate body function, and our bodies provide support services for our brain. However, scientists are currently considering integration of the body / brain system. Our emotional system is mainly in our brain, endocrine system and immune system (now considered a comprehensive biochemistry system), but it is all in our heart, lung, skin etc. It affects organs. Think of our emotions as an adhesive that integrates our bodies and brains, and a peptide molecule as a physical manifestation of this process.

The focus of this article is on the contribution of mammalian emotional brains; nonverbal emotional clues related to fear and safety are very easy to interpret as reading in the brain. It is part of it. This emotional brain has a greater influence on behavior than our new brain. Our reptile brain is involved in the autonomic nervous system that we can not control, but some influences such as heart rate and breathing are inserted directly into our emotional brain. It is understandable that these brain systems are closely related and form a seamless network of "know". This "recognition" starts with the body, takes a structure rooted in the relationship, spreads out of the world, and creates what we call civilization.
