I have to say that through pastor's role, reading and class discussion, I learned a lot from this class. To be honest, I have no obvious disagreement. This lesson is very useful for understanding the current paradigm shift that the church is experiencing. In particular, there are three ways to help me understand post-modern church transformation and my role as a pastor in this ever-changing paradigm.
William Willimon provides insight to pastors who serve the church in the post-modern world. Willimon discussed today the role that the pastor actually plays and studied the biblical theology about the status of the pastor. Wei Meng emphasizes that the pastor needs self-meditation to recognize the importance of the pastor's role as a teacher of Jesus.
A useful resource to explain the effects of postmoderns is Graham Johnston, who preached the postmodern world (Grand Rapids: Baker, 2001). Post modern thinking enters our lives through steady bomb surrender of movies, magazines, songs, and television, not necessarily through conscious choice. They gather in the right place of the sermon and nod, but in their heart many parishes have deeper beliefs and values that follow the post-modern world view than the Bible point of view -
Like other post-modern movements, the formation of a post-modern building movement is a reaction to the ideals of modernism, a response to being dull, hostile and utopian felt by contemporary movements. Although rarely in the design of church buildings, there are several noteworthy examples, as architects are restoring and updating the historical style and "cultural memory" of Christian architecture. Notable medical practitioners include Dr. Steven Schroeder, Dr. Duncan Strike, Dr. Thomas Gordon.
Postmodern is the art, architecture, and important movements in the late 20th century against modernism (see below). Postmodern explicitly states that the world is in a state of permanent imperfections and perpetuation. It promotes the concept of fundamental diversification; there are many ways to understand it, and in reality there are many truths. German architect Walter Gropius founded Bauhaus School of Art and Design in Weimar, Germany. Along with Ludwig Meiss van der Rohe and Le Corbusier he is considered one of the pioneers of modern architecture. School accepted constructivism and encouraged artists to pursue design and engineering in line with the Soviet principles of the 1920s. Most of the works produced by the school have influenced architecture and American art institutions.
