The following timeline shows Horothgar's role in Beowulf. Colored dots and icons indicate which topics are associated with the appearance.
The first major women's role we introduced was Wealhtheow, which was expressed as "the queen of The Hrothgar ...". After a few lines she was called "Wealhtheow / Hrothgar Queen and Fellow (Beowulf, lines 664-665)." Beowulf, decorated with her gold "(Beowulf, lines 613 - 614). Wealhtheow is neither Simple Wealhtheow nor Denmark's Queen, Hrothgar's partner. On the other hand, Hrothgar has always been called "Hrothgar" or "Halfdane's son". This proves the strong patriarchal value of the hero culture seen in poetry. This is not to say, but Wealhtheow is totally helpless. Beowulf feels that it is necessary to brag proud that "this woman is very good" (Beowulf, line 640). Why do you think that Beowulf will be happy if she is not satisfied with pride after being regarded as an underage queen?
Beowulf is a man who believes in him. In lines 407 to 426 I explain Beowulf's request to Hrothgar in detail and ask him to allow me to fight Glendell. Beowulf boasts of his power and the power of Geats in Hrothgar. When Beowulf talked to Hrothgar, the reader realized that he was not complaining when talking to the king, but he was conservative. But on line 415 - 418, the reader is aware of the boast of modern usage of that word. He talked about his strengths and the ability to fight Grendel. This type of boasting will help Beowulf to work on Hrothgar. Beowulf sells his skills and his skills to Hrothgar and his community. Beowulf persuaded Hrothgar to fulfill his duty to fight Glendell, but he also said he hoped "to improve Hygelac's reputation and make him happy" (435 Line 43). At line 2145, Beowulf came back from adventure and gave all his gifts to Hygelac as a sign of loyalty.
The Prince of Geats heard the problem of Hrothgar, gathered the 14 most brave Geat warriors, and departed from his house in southern Sweden. Geats was welcomed by members of the Hrothgar Court, and Beowulf boasts of his success in killing as a warrior, especially in the battle with the sea monsters. Hrothgar welcomes the arrival of Geats and wishes Beowulf to achieve his reputation. During the party after Beowulf 's arrival, Unferth in Denmark expressed suspicion about Beowulf' s past performance and in return that Beowulf condemned Unferth as killing his brothers. Before the end of the night, Hrothgar promised that if Beowulf succeeded against monsters you would gain huge wealth.
