The Battle of Bougainville

The Solomon Islands movement began in Guadalcanal in December 1942. In February 1943, the Russell Islands collapsed and the organization of the new Georgian dynasty continued in August 1943. Separatist rebellion against Bougainville from 1975 to 1976 resulted in an 11 hour amendment of the Papua New Guinea Constitution, whereby Bougainville and the other 18 regions became quasi-federal positions within the province. The new riot of Bougainville started in 1988 and robbed 20,000 people by 1997. Bougainville is the major mining site of the country, accounting for 40% of the national budget. Indigenous people believe that they are suffering from the negative environmental impact of mining, which contaminated land, water and air without fair distribution of profits.

The agreement and the (revised) Papua New Guinea Constitution stipulate that the Bougainville Constitution Convention adopts the Bougainville Constitution. The Papua New Guinea Constitution stipulates that certain matters are included in the state constitution and should be transferred to the central government after adoption of the meeting. If the national government approves that it meets the requirements of the national constitution, approval of the head of state is necessary. It will not be effective until then.

In Bougainville, in March 2002 the Papua New Guinea parliament approved the main amendment of the Papua New Guinea Constitution for the purpose of implementing the provisions of the Bougainville Peace Agreement in 2001. However, these modifications were not until the Bougainville militia.
