The Batek of Malaysia

The Batek community is one of the multicultural groups of the orangari people of Central Malaysia. Endicott (2004) describes Bateks as an indigenous population living in a rainforest on the Malaysian peninsula in the Malaysian Peninsula's book Batek. According to Endicott, the word "Batek" was first used by colonists in the South Island. These settlers arrived in Southeast Asian islands on a boat. Today, due to aggression, Batek lives mainly in Taman Negara National Park. They are nomads and collectors and the exact location of their place of residence depends mainly on the general extent of the area where they live. Batek has existed as a nomadic society and collecting society for centuries. They have established and maintained a rather unique culture from Malaysia's social structural rules of the general society (Endicott, 2004; Endicott, 1974).

Taman Negara National Park is one of the oldest parks in Malaysia. Endicott (1974), known as Batek Negrito: Economic and Social Organization in the doctoral thesis, said this park was built in 1939, is located in the Malay Peninsula and occupies an area of ​​about 1,300 kilometers Did. In the late 1960s, the tourism activities of Taman Negara started to increase. This attracted much of Batek's jungle instruction work in Kuala Hut. In 1979, the Malaysian government relocated Batek to a settlement plan with government subsidies established at Kuala Atok outside the park border, and began relocating. There are several factors behind this government decision. The first problem is that due to their semi-nomadic existence, Batek is forced to mix with communist terrorists hidden inside the jungle and to provide them with information and financial aid.
