Birds will become birds in the whole Chopin novel 'Awakening', and she uses the symbols to convey the deeper meaning in the story. Common animals such as birds or objects such as clothing represent more than just animals on the surface of the text. Birds as symbol of women, clothes as freedom, even art as freedom or failure of individuals will make the novel beautiful and give it a deeper meaning. Birds are simple creatures, but they have tremendous power to fly. This gift may be represented or hindered by trimmed wings and cages.

From the beginning of awakening, readers will be symbolized by birds, a parrot talking and a bruising bird. The contrast represented by two birds can be seen as a representation of Edna and the outside world. The parrot lives in a golden cage. All parrots are prepared for parrots, but parrots are dissatisfied with the surrounding environment, expressing themselves and seeking all "disappearances" (1). Parrots also imitated the surrounding creatures unconsciously and also adopt pure social conditions. The emergence of mockery birds may represent freedom for Edna to wake up and freedom some people already have. Chopin can choose any bird to explain the outside world, but with the choice of imitating birds, it can conclude that people with freedom ridicule Edna 's prison sentence.

Kate Chopin uses the symbol of birds to express and enlighten Edna Ponterie by the novel "Awakening". In the novel, images of other birds and birds seem to represent Freedom, Failure, and Selection which Edna must do. Through awakening, Chopin used flight and depictions of birds to express the mental state of her main character, Edna Ponterie. As the story begins, we will soon introduce the importance of the symbolism of birds. The first sentence of the novel is very strange and barked by the parrot instead of the hero and other people. "Allez vous-en! Allez vous-en! Sapristi! Nothing!" (Chopin 3) is the word of a bird in this crazy cage. "Go away! Go away! For heaven!" Is to translate this message into English.
