Obesity is a big and growing problem among American children. Over the past 30 years, the childhood obesity rate in the United States has tripled. Obesity is thought to be the product of several interacting factors, including genetic susceptibility, behavior (dietary level and physical activity), and the environment (family, school, and community). To be effective, nutritional standards must cover all foods sold at school. We will create domestic nutrition standards for all foods sold throughout the campus school. School lunch needs to meet federal nutrition standards, but foods sold separately outside the scope of meal plan, such as those available in vending machines, do not need to meet equivalent nutritional standards.
