Founded in 1973, the American history review is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal issued by Johns Hopkins University Press. A review of new books on American historical themes, and reviews of influential titles of the past. It covers all areas of American history such as politics, military, economy, gender, religion, society, culture, law, knowledge, art, philosophy. Current editor-in-chief is Thomas P. Slaughter of the University of Rochester.

"African American Review" collects academic insights on African-American literature, drama, movies, visual art and culture, interviews, poetry, novels, book reviews, etc. AAR is issued quarterly and includes cultural commentators such as prominent writers and artists such as Trudier Harris, Arnold Rampersad, Hortense Spillers, Amiri Baraka, Cyrus Cassells, Rita Dove, Charles Johnson, Cheryl Wall and Toni Morrison.
