The Admiralty's search for the Northwest Passage

Northwest Passage is a famous route from the Atlantic to the Pacific, passing through the less populated Canadian islands, the Arctic Islands. European explorers first began looking for the Northwest route in the 15th century, but the dangerous situation and the covering of the sea ice made this road inoperable and defeated many expeditions. Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen became the first person to successfully navigate Northwest Passage in 1906. In recent years, the Arctic ice sheet has become thin due to climate change, and access to the sea is open. In the summer of 2007, this route was completely released from the ice for the first time in history.

In 1817 Ross was elected as a naval ministry to command the English navy 's Northwest Strait Expedition, and in 1818 London' s Space Shuttle Isbyla departed from London with William E. In 1818, six years after he became Commander of the Swedish Navy, he received the command of the Arctic expedition team hosted by the British Navy.
