Digital art digital art has a history of 50 years innovation and experimental new technology. The pioneer of digital art is not an artist but people who write new perspectives using computers and computer programs. Digital Art has been categorized into three stages from 1956 to 1986, according to the digital art museum which is a joint project between London City Hall university and two independent art galleries.

Digital art is different from computer art, but both early traces go back to the same origin. The 1960s was a particularly important decade in the history of digital arts, as artists started experimenting with computers. John Whitney's work in transforming visual effects using mathematical functions is the world's first computer-generated art, and he is considered one of the "father of computer graphics". From the 1970's to the 1980's, artists have increasingly attempted to use computer imaging techniques to derive the possibility of unlocking digital media. However, the true technical revolution in digital art is truly occupying the San Francisco visual effect company Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) and prospering.
Charles Csuri, a pioneer in computer animation and digital art, developed the first computer art in 1964. (MoMA) and computer society - SIGGRAPH. Donald Greenberg is a major innovator in the field of computer graphics. Greenberg wrote hundreds of articles and served as a teacher and leader for many well-known computer graphic artists, animators and researchers like Robert L. Cook, Marklevoy, Brian A. Bersky and Wayne Lytle . Many of his former students have won Oscar with their technical achievements, and some of them have won the SIGGRAPH Achievement Award. Greenberg is the founding director of the National Science Foundation computer graphics and science visualization center.
