In the evening at 11 o'clock, a big lady was walking down the town which was abandoned with a large wallet on his shoulder. Suddenly the boy hurried behind her and jerked her purse. Because of his weight, he broke his balance, he fell and his legs jumped. The woman quietly kicked him

The boy put him in a shirt and trembled and a big woman asked him to return his wallet to her. When she asks if he was ashamed, the boy finally spoke. He also replied that he denied that he would take away his wallet. Without being deceived, the woman told him he was telling a lie, and he knew that there was no one in his family and dragged him out. That boy scared himself to be scared and released, but the woman just announced her name: Mrs. Luella Bates, Washington Jones. The sweaty boy is struggling now, but I know that half of Nelson in this woman is hard to resist.

When they entered a furnished room, Mrs. Ruera Bates of Washington Jones opened the door. She asked the boy's name; he replied that it was Roger. She called him by name, and washed his face and told me to loosen him. Roger looked at the open door and saw a big woman; he chose to wash

When asking if the woman took money for starvation, the boy replied that she wanted blue suede shoes. That woman said that he completed something that would not tell anyone. Then, one by one next to the purse and the opening door, she walked behind the screen and heated Lima bean and ham on her gas plate. That boy does not run; he does not want to be distrusted

When they were eating, the woman did not ask questions and talked about her night's work at the hotel's hair salon. After they shared her little cake, she gave the boy ten dollars to buy some blue suede shoes and asked him to leave because she needed a rest.

Mrs. Lula Bates of Washington Jones took Roger to a barren house and said she wanted her to perform well. Before the big woman was closed, he managed to thank him. He can never see her again.

The settings of the two stories are similar, but there are some differences. "Thank you" is held at 11:00 pm in Harlem, New York, "Marigold" will be held in Maryland during the Great Depression of 1930. Roger, "Thank you" knows that in a part of the story that he did not take care of him at home, you all have to deal with things like the Great Depression. Both are in the countryside and the other is in the city. Roger and Elizabeth of the hero have similarities and differences. They were very young and innocent, and they all ate older women. Roger tried to steal his wallet Ruera Bates, and Lizabeth threw a stone at Miss Lotti's marigold. The old lady is very different from each other. Miss Lotti is broken and quiet, but Mrs. Ruela Bates is strong and stylish. The difference between the hero is their sex and the lessons they learned.

The two stories we chose to complete my paper are Eugenia W. Collier's "Marigolds" and Langston Hughes's "Thank you M'am". These stories were chosen because there is "the arrival of the times", as explained in the "literary elements" of the book. For example, in each story, the hero learns from a specific experience and then becomes more mature. The settings of the two stories are similar, but there are some differences.
