Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia, with a population of about 65 million people. It was once a European colony, but then freed itself and later became the Kingdom of Thailand. Most of them are Thai, the rest are from Asia and other countries in the world. With a long coastal zone and warm tropical climate it has become a good tourist destination for people all over the world (Leppert, 2001). Thai people tend to be productive and diligent because they believe that they should enjoy their lives.

In recent years, Thailand has played an increasingly active role in the international arena. When East Timor became independent from Indonesia, Thailand for the first time in its history provided an army for international peacekeeping operations. That army remains there today as part of the UN peacekeeping force. As part of its efforts to strengthen international relations, Thailand has reached out to regional organizations like the US National Organization (OAS) and the European Security Cooperation Organization (OSCE).
