From 2001 to 2004 more text-enabled mobile phones have become available in general. As these types of mobile phones become available, the text message phenomenon begins to appear. There are more people who think text-based communication is the most effective communication method. Because of this phenomenon, educators are increasingly aware of the impact text-based communication has on the development of literacy. Sending a text message will reduce the literacy rate of future generations.

Multimodal traffic literacy development video, audio, text (and combinations thereof) are an important element of today's Messenger app chat. Each medium requires individual literacy skills to understand the meaning behind the information and its meaning depends on the audience and the background. Significant literacy skills can be taught and promoted using multimedia messaging applications. Familiarity with these different communication methods will help teachers understand the way students communicate. It may also be useful to develop strategies to acquire other communication skills for students, including creative writing, long writing, communication through more commercial paths such as e-mail, and actual speech Hmm.
