If you are seriously considering one of the tests, your English is already very good - at least enough to understand this article. However, it is important to note that CAE is intended only for advanced English users, that is, users within the scope of B2 to C2. On the other hand, IELTS and TOEFL scores will give you the ability to speak English anywhere in the A1 - C2 range. Therefore, primary or intermediate English users should not try CAE. The most common TOEFL-based Internet-based (iBT) test provides more than 50 test sessions per year, but can also be used as a paper-based test (PBT) in places without iBT versions. However, since the PBT version does not have a speaking task and it is replaced by a structural task (grammar task), these two are not the same.

Your proficiency in English is especially helpful when doing standardized tests.
