The sequel "Ninja Turtles: Shadow Out" was released on June 3, 2016 with Megan Fox, Will Arnett played its part and Stephen Amell debuted as Casey Jones. Dave Green served as director on behalf of Liebesman. Initially, Mirage allowed employees and freelancers to retain the rights to the roles created for TMNT Universe, but did not acquire licenses for media and products other than cartoon books. Eventually, it was difficult to track everyone's rights, so Mirage made it possible for TMNT role creators to sign a retroactive work contract. One of the creators who did not sign the right to work for TMNT is Swamp Thing's veteran Rick Veitch.
