English is evaluated as one of the most important international languages of today. It was discovered at major levels around the world. Teaching English as a foreign language is not easy, especially for young learners a lot of effort is required. But getting started early is not a solution for better English speakers. Young learner EFL teachers must follow some strategies and techniques to better understand and teach young learners. Students aged 5 to 12 can not listen to the teacher for 2 to 3 hours as if they were sitting in a chair.
As mentioned earlier, ESL teachers need to adopt various approaches to educate young learners. Several factors must be considered when teaching young learners, Piaget (1970) points out that children are active learners and thinkers. At this stage of development, they can learn and understand the knowledge gained through continuous interaction with the physical environment. In addition, young learners learn by social interaction with colleagues to solve a given task (Vygotsky, 1962). In many cases, young learners do not pay attention to accepting, guiding, and completing activities of new knowledge. Therefore, in the early learning process of young learners it is important to instruct correctly so that ESL teachers can learn effectively.
Age plays an important role in the content and teaching method that we teach. The young learner class differs from adult or youth class in terms of learner's needs, emphasis on language ability, and developed cognitive ability. Let's focus on what we usually call "dead young learners" of 10 to 12 years old. First, you give the student a piece of paper containing two sentences about the young couple they met several years ago. Depending on the age of the child, the number of sentences in each column should vary between 8 and 10. Next, ask them to match the sentences in the first column with those in the second column. There are no errors or correct answers
Finally, the biggest difference between adult education and teens' education is that students are taken to the classroom. Young learners bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and energy, and adults bring life experience. Young learners are still learning about the world around them, but adults have already had a lifetime experience and have their own ideas and opinions. There may be many differences in teaching English to adults or adolescent learners as foreign languages, but the basic method does not change. Encourage communication and use of real language, use student's prior knowledge, and most importantly, maintain a comfortable atmosphere in the classroom what you will succeed no matter the age of the students
