It may be difficult to prepare a statement teaching philosophy. Although there is no strict rule, the statement of educational philosophy usually reflects the story of the first person on 1 or 2 pages. Based on work of Schonwetter et al. (2002), I found it useful to convey the structure of educational philosophy statements around the four main elements of beliefs, strategies, influences, and goals (Figure 1). Educational philosophy statements can be used for a variety of purposes such as: Job seeking as an essential element of the education portfolio, within the scope of term and promotion review, and award application. Probably the most important thing is that the educational philosophy statement supports our own growth and development as an educator and we have the opportunity to reflect and communicate what we do to support education and learning . They provide powerful tools for communicating to our colleagues, and perhaps most importantly, our beliefs and learning beliefs and ways to our students.
