Teaching Morals and Character at State University

Several weeks before the state university teached ethics and personality profiles, there was a bit of a fuss when students' personal items found a threatening gay message on the campus of the state university. The controversy centers around the intent of this information and if someone finds a person who wrote this information, that person should be punished. The conversation on campus focuses on individual motives, personal behavior, and individual punishment, whether for officers or students.

Character education is an essential part of education. Chang (1994) describes teaching as "natural moral" (page 81), but Sockett (1993) argues that "moral quality is important in teaching" (page 14).
