Teaching English in South Korea for the Purpose of Communication

In 1992, the MEXT of Korea prioritized teaching English to communicate. Since then, productive language skills, speaking and writing are increasingly important in Korea. As part of my responsibility, I designed a part of the training program to teach and evaluate the essay writing skills of a group of English teachers. This program includes feedback from high stakes (important) tests I designed based on independent research, as well as feedback from colleagues, English teachers in Korea, research director, and teacher trainers from the University of Cambridge.

Korea teaching English in Korea is a country where people can speak Korean as a moral language. Therefore, teaching English is the cause of rapid growth in the country. In a rapidly changing business environment, Koreans are forced to interact with other people from various countries. Other macro environmental factors such as globalization influenced the behavior and attitudes of Koreans. - "Learning without end" is an ancient Chinese proverb. Because English is the most popular language and students can benefit from the latest English information, TESOL teachers need to catch up on progress of their subjects earlier than regular teachers.
