It is an abstraction. This qualitative study aims to understand the lack of historical thinking skills (HTS) in classroom history education. Participants are four experienced historical teachers taught at four junior high schools. Interview and observe, collect necessary data. The findings show that these teachers incorporate two skills; understanding chronology and exploring evidence. These skills are known as low level HTS. The level of HTS is high, interpretation, imagination, and rationalization are explicitly explained in the teachings of the two participants. The reason that the high level of HTS included in the data is insufficient is because the textbook is overused. In order to incorporate HTS into classroom history education, teachers need to accept the concept of HTS.
To teach CTS, you need to use higher level classification skills. With these skills, student presentations or teachers need to use classification, evaluation, and creation methods (Bloom revision taxonomy levels 4, 5, and 6). When teaching occurs at a higher learning level, lower order behaviors such as memory, understanding and application are included in teaching. The following table shows examples of general behavior and related dental educational activities at each stage of learning.

The idea of education must be practiced in all content areas of every education level. For the teacher, this means working hard. It is a simpler option to teach the students to remember the facts and evaluate them through multiple choice tests. In the course focused on thought, ... Read more
