Paul and his family are moving from Houston to Florida's Tangerine County. When they arrived, Paul saw a mountain of orange trees smoldering on the mountain of big trees. For the new housing development project for the Fischer family, many trees are cut down and baked. It is the same. Paul 's parents were so fascinated by Eric' s football career that they seemed to have not noticed sinister things about Paul 's Eric. They did not seem to notice Paul. Paul likes to play soccer, he is a goalkeeper. Because of his bad eyes, he has a special goggle he wears when he plays. But when Paul entered the Windsor Lake middle school, his mother told the principal Paul that he needed help as he was legally blind.

Tangerine children are from poor workers' families - families raised in oranges. Every child will help the family orchard. When Paul approached Tino and Teresa Cruz, he came to ask their orange for help. Tino and Teresa have Ruy brothers to respect. Rui is developing a new type of orange that is called Golden Dawn. Paul likes to work outdoors of the Cruz family. He also likes their loyalty to each other. Erik, on the other hand, is malignant and cruel. The next day the children of Cruz began to trust Paul, they came to tackle the science project at his house. Eric came out to laugh at children being poor farm workers. Tino faced Erik, but Eric attacked his head and caused him to bleed. Paul is irritated, but he does not know how to fight Eric. He is afraid of Eric.

Paul is the main character and talker of Tangerine. He is closely watching the people around him, especially his brother Erik. Everyone else thinks Erik is a star football player, but Paul knows what he has more. Paul tells a novel in his diary. He talks about events around him everyday and reveals important details about Lake Windsor and Tangerine. Paul had poor eyesight and was obliged to wear thick prescription goggles. When he moved to Tangerine County, he thought he was an otaku as it is the way he was always treated. But at Windsor Lake and Tangerine High School, he became very popular when he proved his skills at a football stadium. When the children took to him, he was surprised. Windsor Lake Middle School Wars There is nothing as strong as Eagles. The war eagle is strong in the wild and full of pride. They won all games, and Paul is proud of being their members and is proud.
