Taking a Closer Look at Tourette's Syndrome

(Steer 2010) Even a slight imbalance in chemical substances in the brain can cause cramps. The use of Tourette also increases the possibility to develop other conditions. Some of them include ADD (attention deficit disorder), ADDH (attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder), learning disorders, sleep disorders and depression. (Mayo 2012) Life with Tourette is a fight for me. I was diagnosed as TS in the second grade. From the second grade to the fifth grade, my convulsions are there, but it is not very active and not obvious.

In 1885, a French neurologist Dr. Georges Gilles de la Tourette discovered Tourette's syndrome. Tourette's syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive stereotypes, involuntary movements, and vocalizations called single contractions (National Institute of Neurological Disorder and Stroke, 2012). - Fred Plum, a neuroscientist and professor at New York Hospital, has linked the loss of brainstem activity with the cessation of basic brain function including awareness and breathing. To emphasize his view, he said: "Without a brain, I am no longer a person, I am simply a desperate set of organs, no human vitality" (37-38)

Tourette's syndrome (TS) is a neurological disorder characterized by utterances called repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and convulsions. The name of this disease comes from Dr. Georges Gilles de la Tourette, a neurologist in France. He explained for the first time a 86 year old French woman in 1885. The initial symptoms of TS are usually found first in childhood, and the mean onset age is 3-9 years old. TS occurs in people of all nationalities, men are more likely to suffer 3-4 times more than females. It is estimated that 200 thousand Americans have the most severe TS, and as many as 100% show lighter and less complex symptoms such as chronic exercise or vocal cramps. TS may be a chronic disease with lifelong symptoms, but most people with this disease experience the most severe tics in adolescence, improve in adolescence and continue until adulthood.

Many people speculate that the cause of Tourette's syndrome is unknown, but now brain abnormality (Tourette's syndrome) has been pointed out. Evidence from twin and family research suggests TS is a fact sheet of Tourette's syndrome. Symptoms are usually seen in infants aged 7 to 10 years. Hereditary TS occurs in people of all races and age groups, but men are more susceptible than women. DSM - 5 did not talk about TS directly, but mentioned the obstacles associated with it. TS is not a mental disorder but a psychoneurotic disorder; although they are related, these diseases can be associated with Tourette's disease
