Taking a Closer Look at Poverty

What is poverty? Www.merriam-webster.com defines poverty as "a state of a person lacking ordinary or socially acceptable monetary or physical property". Many Americans think that the poor mainly include unemployment, laziness, and lack of education. I asked some random people at the University of the Capital, why people are poor, many say that there is a lack of employment opportunities, others have holes in their pockets, education I say that I have not received it. Even this may be true; many Americans lack the fact that many poor people are diligent people who are not living.

There are two poverty indicators, absolute poverty and relative poverty. Absolute poverty is focused on goods and services that someone (or family) can not use. Relative poverty is related to the background of demand, comparison between social groups and other social groups. The official method for calculating the poverty level in the United States was developed in the 1960s and has not been improved sufficiently since then but critics exaggerate the American poverty level as it is considered poor It is not believed that many people in the past who believe that they lived in poverty. The highest poverty rate since recording was 22% (1950s). The minimum is 11.1% (1973)

After closely investigating the Arkansas poverty data, the regional trend of poverty rate became clear. Lee (42.6%), Phillips (34.7%), St. Francis (31.8%), Lincoln (31.5%) and Tesa (25.8%) are counties with the highest poverty rates. All these counties are in the Mississippi Delta, where a slavery agricultural heritage, followed by tenant farmers, created a poor economic situation for poor blacks and whites. Mechanization of agricultural work does not alleviate this situation because there is little demand for agricultural labor. For example, the poverty rate in Philips County in Arkansas in 2008 is the second highest, the poor children have the highest poverty rate, but the agricultural sales in 2007 is also in the top five.

In general, there are various ways to measure poverty. In the summer, the poor are distinguished by observing the economic and uneconomic happiness of the poor. Others are worried about whether the poor are involved in extreme poverty or relative poverty. The measure of economic well-being takes into account people's income. The advantage of this method is that you can quickly retrieve the data, measure it easily, and regularly update it regularly. The criteria for measuring uneconomic happiness take into account indices of participation in education, health and nutrition, the environment, and empowerment and society. These indicators are used to evaluate people's happiness under long-term trends.
