T.S. Eliot, Langston Hughes and Modern Poetry

T. Elliot and Langston Hughes are famous modern poets. Both were born in Missouri; Hughes was in Joplin on February 1, 1902, and Elliot in St. Louis on September 26, 1888. The two poets are from the same state and may have written at the same time. Langston's parents divorced when they were very young, and most of their grandmothers were raised by him. His father, an African American who got bored with American racial discrimination, moved to Mexico. Langston moved to Lincoln, Illinois, where he started writing poems. After graduating from high school, Hughes spent one year with his father in Mexico. That year, he traveled a considerable amount internationally. The following year, he began studying at Columbia University. In 1924, he moved to Washington, DC and released his first collection of poetry, "The Tired Blues". His first novel "without laughing" was published six years later in 1930.
