Switch from two-step verification to two-factor authentication

Two-Factor authentication is an additional security feature of Apple ID designed to guarantee that even if others know your password, you are the only person you can access your account.

Two-factor authentication is the most advanced and easy-to-use account security that requires some of the latest features of iOS, macOS, and iCloud. In the [Security] section, find a two-factor authentication or 2-step verification process and check if the feature is turned off or on.
