Toni Morrison's short "Sweet" is about what a mother is struggling to accept her daughter. African-American girls were born with much darker skin than their parents' skin, my mother immediately panicked the color of my daughter's skin, life felt embarrassed and caring from her shame and embarrassment. This story has developed with great success in her daughter's life and her mother's "sweet" is beginning to regret the way to treat her child.

Toni Morrison uses the voice of the story in the form of a mother. The purpose of this story is to show how racism is popular in a way that is not necessarily black and white. African Americans have been abused for centuries as they look different from whites. Morrison used a mother who was ashamed of her daughter to explain the depth of racial discrimination in our culture. Her purpose is to show that racial discrimination still has places even in modern times. "This is not my fault, so you are not my fault, I did not do it, I do not know how it happened."

Ironically, Lulaan's mother was discriminating against children due to the dark skin. It is simply because (sweet) she was abandoned by society.

Skin Privilege - Lulaan's skin color hinders parents' marriage and parents become embarrassed because parents can not "pass by" like white people.
