Survey of American Literature

As an investigation of American literature, there are many influential and famous writers. Jack Kerorock became a famous writer, and his non-traditional style made him famous. In the work of Jack Kerouac, he used a flow of consciousness, confused and talked randomly, and for a long time used it in sentences. In Big Sur, Kerouac uses sentences of about 9 lines. The purpose of the American literature survey is to introduce various American writers and genres from colonial period to contemporary American composition to students. According to the University Directory, English 2130 is a historical study of American literature, taking into account literary genres, practices and patterns. Problems such as staging, classical formation, ethnic identity, interrelationship between literature and other cultural elements are included in this course. This course is a study of African-American literature, beginning with slave stories and ending with modern ideas. In the seminar, we will introduce a contemporary theory and criticism model (Critical Ethnology etc) that will learn the outline of an important period of African-American literature and critique the history of African-American literature. The authors we read include Harriet Wilson, Sutton Griggs, Richard Wright and Tonimolisson.

As can be demonstrated by extensive research in American literature, the concept of American dream usually has a different meaning than any other group of African Americans. This is due to a change in the social status of African-Americans in the past three centuries and a fundamental change in the collective views of white Americans. But even in this constantly changing human landscape, the core concept of equality and identity remain a permanent part of the African-American view on American dreams.

English III is an investigation of American literature and literary culture in the 20th century. Students explore major era of literary forms, themes, writers, and American literature. They will understand how these documents represent native American, immigrants to America, and the lives of people brought to America against their will.
