Abstract: Landis-Marinello argues in his article that the laws that criminalize animal cruelty should be applied to agriculture as well. He further argues that when the agricultural industry is exempted from these laws, factory farms increase production to an unnaturally high level. This increase in production brings about devastating environmental influences such as climate change, water shortages, topsoil losses. Considering these effects, Mr. Landis-Marinello thinks that laws need to do more to regulate the agricultural industry. This will inevitably lead the industry to delay production to a more natural level.
