This book gives a unique child's view on the rise of German Nazism in the 1930 's and refugee experience, reflecting Judith Kerr' s positive emotions about his own experience.

A child who left her gracious and comfortable Berlin home (and her beloved pink rabbit) has become a teenager with her narrow family in the room. They do not have much money, privacy or prospects. They did not leave the Syrian Donnie family (the above picture), after spending two years in Jordan, we went to Europe and were welcomed by Germans (although there was a small apartment and a shared bathroom).
