Suicide Causes and Prevention

"Every 18 minutes, someone in the US committed suicide" (Flanders 3). In the United States, the main cause of death is tenth and suicide deprives more than 30,000 lives each year (Flanders 3). Recently, self-destructive behavior of young people is increasing (Flanders 3). "Almost all Americans touch suicide in some way" (Flanders 20). By studying the social problem of suicide you can identify the cause and help prevent further deaths.

The report "Prevention of suicide: the world is urgent" highlights the causes and consequences of suicide and aims to make suicide prevention the top priority of the world public health agenda. The announcement took place around the world suicide day on September 10 every year. This is a worldwide opportunity to raise awareness and encourage joint action.

According to the American suicide prevention foundation (AFSP), more than 44,000 people are trying to commit suicide each year in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 15 to 34 in 2015, the third leading cause of death among children aged 10 to 14. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, men are four times more suicidal than women and 77% of US suicides are by men. Part of this difference is due to the fact that men have chosen a more lethal means of killing. 56% of people die of guns. Women are more likely to commit suicide by self addiction

For American teenagers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that suicide is the second leading cause of death.
