Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, PewDiePie initially studied industrial economics and technology management at the Chalmers Institute of Technology in Gothenburg. In 2010 I registered a YouTube account under the name PewDiePie while I was a university student. In the second year, after losing interest in the degree field, he withdrew from Chalmers who disappointed his parents. After failing to get an apprenticeship with a Scandinavian advertising agency, he decided to concentrate on making content for his YouTube channel. In order to fund his video, PewDiePie began work on sales of prints of his Photoshop art project and on hot dog stalls. PewDiePie quickly gathers fast-growing online followers, and in July 2012 his channel exceeded one million users.
