Street gangs are gaining in popularity in many cities across the country. According to the Ministry of Justice's 2005 National Gang Threats Assessment, there are at least 21,500 gangs and over 731,000 active gang members (Grabianowski). Gang brings fear and violence to the community, drugs, destroys property, involves youth in criminal activities, starts business. When you have a gang in the community, it will affect everyone in the community. A surprisingly large number of young people join the gang and participate in illegal acts.
